It's been a while since I have done a new set. It will be a while, probably until September until I do another one. Family, is not very condusive to an avid hobbier, but you have to choose sometimes between them which is more important. I will probably at least get a base coat down on some Westphalian Carabiniers, and Chasseurs, and then I will have my Westphalian Corps complete. I'll have the Guard Fusiliers, Guard Grenadiers, 2 regiments of line infantry, Guard Carabiniers, Guard Chasseurs, Hussars, and Currasiers.
So I just finished these. I used a standard bearer and drummer from Italeri French Line, but the rest are all HAT. I used the French Guard Chasseurs fort the campaign dress grenadiers, Hat French Middle Guard for the voltigeurs, and the HAT 1812 line infantry fusiliers.
I repainted these hussars to look like the French 4th Hussars, from the Italeri Hussars set.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452620785229398476noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345640442670019748.post-16547108221974433202012-07-18T22:16:00.000-07:002012-07-18T22:16:13.012-07:00French Foot CarabiniersWell to all you professionals out there, I finally learned how to wash with acrylics. I am also re-painting a lot of my old sets. I will get the posts up on them. You can sure tell what a rookie I am at this. I took the French Grenadiers set from Italeri and made this conversion. I already had the Zvezda Old Gaurd set, and they seem to match the historical size when comparing that set to my Hat industrie figures. This seemed like a logical choice. I took that Italeri issue set for Waterloo and re-painted a lot of those too.

I only used a light wash for these Carabiniers, but the other sets I used a heavier wash. I hope you enjoy. I have combined some sets from Hat and Italeri to make Swiss, Irish and Italian units. Those are forth coming, but I am going to re-paint my Old Gaurd set next, and wash those. Thanks to all the more professional painters out there for publishing your content so novices like me can learn. If you google the battle of Grossbeeren, Germany, you will see a picture of this battalion fighting it out with Napoleon's Saxons. This set was manufactured by Revell. The Hat Industrie sets I find are a little easier to deal with, but as my blog states: "I am an amateur, and not an expert" in this field.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345640442670019748.post-80543285500499643452011-12-07T08:44:00.000-08:002011-12-07T08:48:29.912-08:00Westphalian Grenadier Gaurds<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 225px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6AYNs9oz06tOFEPeq2-GBWcNLFbn2qyRZgIZbpnbj5blD1Z1_nxtL3WRxOMKA4e4SRN-jFNAP5svoDXG4z5xyxRkQsNtlP_v4-GIwX9myRxYv_a5sdMLahnp34FgaN9xpeBcfVYIydEI/s400/120711+001.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5683429229016181250" />
I finished this set last night. For those of you viewing the blog for the first time, I openly claim to be an amateur painter. I like the history behind these guys. They fought with the Prussians during the opening battles of Napoleon's Prussian Campaign. After the Prussians were defeated by Napoleon, the Duke of Brunswick took with him his regiments, this is one of them, and they escaped to the Coast and were picked up by the British. They fought for the British in the Peninsular Campaign, and then at Waterloo. I have already started the Avante Garde, and have done the black uni's again. If I get some more sets I will do the gray uni's and do a Line regiment instead of the Leib again.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345640442670019748.post-56933340803945959812010-07-04T06:54:00.000-07:002010-07-04T07:00:59.843-07:00JULY 4THOn this day in 1863, Robert E. Lee retreated from Gettysburg, and Vicksburg surrendered to Grant. These events occured on a Sunday July 4th. I look at my day ahead, and most of it is planned with Family, and Church. I was somewhat discouraged by this, foolishly, and realize that our founding fathers and men who died fighting for us, would like it this way. I look at my little family and am glad that I have the freedoms that I do. I hope you all enjoy this day, and thank God, and the fighting men and women who give us so much.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345640442670019748.post-33562720360645404522010-07-03T07:47:00.001-07:002010-07-03T07:52:38.833-07:00Royal Horse Artillery<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 225px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWJc43Jc7NryZP5EOT3hXVTwKYhfXi61zCBlOeT6tHRAJmvum-b9y1V1dA340-kYbWEKIsCEkFByUrJG4zBMtowsAOZcf9HTNV-8qagxqM7oaLD_2yY5HCEGfPC9vgV0FIQouHtrdZjIE/s400/July+3+2010+015.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5489692970462494834" />
I got the horse artillery done today. First is the French Line Artillery. The Cavalry Unit is the Dutch/Polish lancers under Napoleon. Last is the 95th rifles in green. You may remember the old series with Sean Bean the Sharpe series, that featured this regiment.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5345640442670019748.post-27652507899252594272009-01-02T07:04:00.000-08:002009-01-02T07:20:27.739-08:00Grenadier Gaurds and Dutch/Belgian Regiment<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 112px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigGWkF6cYM6Jlr2_Hk6nTl_jttr_u_Nzal2mss9rlE8sHGOdM3Y3TF7spJ4rzFyJs6rYgT08u_GSqx9_tdXoMvIZEIs2c1LNVZARiNun_jURKi4Oy9L9DIz1s7fM5llR1D3bYq9cD2m-Q/s200/IMG_1865.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5286714813651085170" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 112px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYKnxVQW8_RSPXg2OknmEYXwNBmcLur4qpOqh9XHlfohtMRhKrwoQMy8-0j1eOe3PepO4gHt4tTP2Fplt-QGAuHBqhjJIQV0lqwqxAoEEfSDbZrY-9XhELXBxTZLznpY0mkMs9nXADReE/s200/IMG_1864.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5286714456879195698" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 112px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghAHBCAh_BjcupAh5AleWbzVHfJ8GHol1ny-he2dhXULidpk0V2eHmBO8FEtYrydHROcanvzHKOn69SEUrHSY7OheYNUWAMr4KdpA0Qlz-eppy3NOuZBuOUDfG6lfPRqajL0DMm_gITUo/s200/IMG_1863.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5286714115283313090" />

These are some pics of the Gaurd Grenadiers Cavalry for France, and the Dutch/Belgian composite regiment under Wellington at Waterloo. I have not got them as you can see on their stands, but will shortly. I didn't do the reigns on the horses because Brooky painted the horses, so all I did was the saddles. I thought for a 2 year old she did a pretty good job for not making a mess of them, and so I wanted to preserve that as best I could of her original work.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
