French Foot Carabiniers

Well to all you professionals out there, I finally learned how to wash with acrylics.  I am also re-painting a lot of my old sets.  I will get the posts up on them.  You can sure tell what a rookie I am at this.  I took the French Grenadiers set from Italeri and made this conversion.  I already had the Zvezda Old Gaurd set, and they seem to match the historical size when comparing that set to my Hat industrie figures.  This seemed like a logical choice.  I took that Italeri issue set for Waterloo and re-painted a lot of those too.
I only used a light wash for these Carabiniers, but the other sets I used a heavier wash.  I hope you enjoy.  I have combined some sets from Hat and Italeri to make Swiss, Irish and Italian units.  Those are forth coming, but I am going to re-paint my Old Gaurd set next, and wash those.  Thanks to all the more professional painters out there for publishing your content so novices like me can learn.

Westphalian 2nd

I tried to mimic the Westphalian 2nd in this unit.  I really like the 1808-1812 French Infantry, from hat industrie.  I will probably do the Westphalian Garde Fusiliers next.

Pictures from High Adventure (last year)

These are some pics, from a 24 exposure waterproof camera that I took on our high adventure to Zions last year. If I get the other pictures I'll post them.

These are from the checkerboard Mesa hike. We only hiked 2 miles up, and 2 down, but there was a 880 foot gain in elevation.

This is the boys and Brother Kirby. This is about the half way point. You can kind of grasp the sheer climb we had by the slot canyon walls to the side.

Here's Kirbs putting on his Napoleon "I've conquered all" pose.

The boys before the last ascent to the top, havin fun.

The Top finally! The object of the hike was to gain this plateau and be able to see the Great Arch of Zions. You can kinda see it in the distance.

The next day was the narrow's hike. The boys putting on their best poses. You'll see this them repeated.

1st East Prussian Grenadier Battalion

So I read about this group, and decided to paint this as my next set. If you google the battle of Grossbeeren, Germany, you will see a picture of this battalion fighting it out with Napoleon's Saxons. This set was manufactured by Revell. The Hat Industrie sets I find are a little easier to deal with, but as my blog states: "I am an amateur, and not an expert" in this field.

Westphalian Grenadier Gaurds

I finished this set last night. I was inspired by this unit from reading about the battle of Borodino. That is one of the last battles you will see in Tolstoy's "War and Peace."

Prussian Dragoons

This was a set a long time coming. This was one of the first sets I ever bought, and I finally finished it.

Prinz Maximillian (spelling) Saxons

Hat Industries started manufacturing their French Infantry in a white plastic. So I thought this would be convenient to try some Saxons. The uniform probably resembles more of the pre-1813 uniforms as the shako doesn't bare the tassles.
